India-Pakistan Truce: Videos from Valley’s Poonch, Rajouri Show Quiet Borders
The India-Pakistan ceasefire, effective from May 10, 2025, has ushered in a tentative calm across the Kashmir Valley, with videos from Poonch, Rajouri, and Pathankot revealing quiet borders on May 11. The truce, following intense clashes sparked by India’s Operation Sindoor, offers hope, but the region remains on edge as security forces stay vigilant.
Ceasefire Brings Silence
Negotiated by India’s DGMO Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai and Pakistan’s Major General Kashif Abdullah, the ceasefire halted hostilities after Pakistan’s drone attacks and India’s retaliatory strikes. No firing or drone activity was reported overnight on May 11 along the Line of Control (LoC) or International Border. Videos shared on X, including clips from ANI, show serene scenes in Poonch, with residents cautiously resuming routines. In Rajouri, markets buzzed with activity, and Pathankot saw power restored after blackouts. The absence of air raid sirens has brought relief, though further talks on May 12 are critical to sustaining the truce.
Ground Reports from the Valley
Footage from Poonch captures villagers tending to fields, a stark contrast to days of shelling that killed 16 civilians, including Rajouri’s Additional District Commissioner Raj Kumar Thapa. Rajouri videos depict locals rebuilding damaged homes, while Pathankot clips show open shops and reduced police presence. Posts on X highlight mixed emotions—relief at the calm but sorrow over losses. The conflict’s toll, with 73 civilian injuries in Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab, underscores the ceasefire’s importance. Local leaders, like Poonch’s Deputy Commissioner, urge residents to avoid border areas until stability is assured.

Security Forces on Alert
Despite the calm, the Indian Army and Border Security Force (BSF) maintain high alert in Poonch, Rajouri, and Pathankot, with air defenses active after prior drone incursions. Rajasthan’s Barmer and Gujarat’s Kutch also remain vigilant. Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri emphasized the military’s readiness to counter violations, reflecting caution given Pakistan’s history of breaches.
A Fragile Hope
The videos from the Valley signal a return to normalcy, but the ceasefire’s fragility looms large. As border communities rebuild, the nation watches closely, hoping the quiet borders endure beyond the upcoming DGMO talks.
